In 2025, the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute for Southern Jewish Life (ISJL) proudly hits a milestone–25 years of supporting, connecting, and celebrating Jewish life in the South!
Established in 2000, the ISJL has been dedicated to preserving the rich history and vibrant culture of southern Jewish communities. Our mission encompasses three core service areas: Education, Culture, and Spirituality. Through these pillars, we provide tailored programs and resources to meet the diverse needs of the community throughout our thirteen state region.
EducationWorking with more than 70 communities across the South, our team of educators, comprehensive curriculum, and ongoing opportunities for learning and connection help ensure Jewish students throughout the region have an excellent Jewish education.

CultureWe celebrate and preserve the unique cultural heritage of southern Jewry through programs, historical documentation, and the Encyclopedia of Southern Jewish Communities, which chronicles the stories of Jewish life across the South.

SpiritualityOur Spirituality division and regional rabbi provide guidance and resources to foster meaningful Jewish experiences, including rabbinical visits, holiday materials, and community engagement opportunities.
