When You Read, You Succeed.
The ISJL's Community Engagement Department identified literacy as one of the key issue areas we strive to address with our programming.
Read, Lead, Succeed is one program we have spearheaded to build literacy skills. This spring, we're excited to be launching something new - the Literacy Achievement Bonanza, or LAB! Here's the information:
The ISJL Community Engagement department’s Read, Lead, Succeed program, in partnership with Jackson State University’s Kids Kollege, is excited to announce the 1st annual Literacy Achievement Bonanza (LAB), during which 100 students in grades 1-4 in the Jackson Public School District will spend each weekday of their Spring Break
engaging in literacy-based activities that are explicitly designed to foster a positive relationship with reading. Activities will reinforce previously established literacy skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) in age, skill, and developmentally appropriate methods aligned with the
Mississippi Common Core Standards—and it will be fun, too!
