What YOU Said!

By Leah Apothaker

As a second-year Fellow, with a job lined up for next year, I must admit that I’ve fallen victim to the senioritis bug. So instead of me writing my monthly newsletter article, I’m letting you write it…sort of.

Our annual Education Conference is upcoming and we wanted to remind you of the things You said on your evaluations. Every year we hear from participants that they love coming to the conference; they tell us how valuable the experience is. Here’s what you had to say. Thanks for doing my job for me!

This conference is valuable to our schools because its helps “give me tools for effective structure, discipline, and creativity models to help our kids. Running a school can be very daunting,” but, “the collaboration and resources offered were truly astounding.”People leave feeling “refreshed, with increased knowledge,” and “like I have a lot of knowledge and ideas to bring back to the school to share with my students and colleagues.”

One participant even described it this way: “It’s like a battery recharge for new and better ideas for our school. We are networking and knowing that we aren’t the only ones who struggle at times in providing a Jewish education to our kids.” Another said, “I feel as if I went from 1st grade to 12th grade in 2½ days.”

Participants are always made to feel comfortable at our conference, whether they come alone or as part of a big group because of “the little touches: assigned tables at meals to meet new people, ISJL Fellows and staff at each meal table and easily identifiable. Everyone was so approachable.”So don’t take it from us; take it from your colleagues.

We might have set some expectations, but we hope to exceed them, like we did for a participant who reported, “I was told a lot about the conference before I came this year, so I had certain expectations…but the conference has far exceeded my expectations and I have met so many new people and had more fun than should be allowed.”

See you at the conference!
