We believe in the power of reading, and in the empowerment of students.
The ISJL offers literacy programming designed to engage and excite students while building their literacy and life skills.
Literacy isn't just key to academic success; it also opens doors to employment, empowers civic engagement, creates lifelong connections, and more. From our literacy day camp LAB to year-round literacy interventions in partnership with Operation Shoestring, the ISJL is committed to engaging literacy learning throughout our communities. Learn more about our literacy initiatives, including ones you can bring right into your own local community, by emailing [email protected]. The ISJL also works with public schools to empower students through peer mediation with our TAP (Talk About the Problems) initiative. Through TAP, students are trained as mediators, then work in pairs to assist their peers who are in conflict reach meaningful, mutually agreeable resolutions-- stopping conflicts before they escalate to violence, detention, or suspension.
