April Showers (of Laughter)

​An imam, a priest, and rabbi are serving on an interfaith Q&A panel. As the final question, the moderator asks them all what, at the end of their lives, they would like people to say at their funeral. The imam sagely replies, “that I walked in the ways of God as a good human.” The priest seriously responds, “that I expanded my church beyond the walls of our building and into the hearts of people.” The rabbi glibly shouts out, “LOOK! HE’S MOVING!”
 
While known as the People of the Book, Jews might also be known as the People of the Joke. We have a long history of looking at the humorous side of things, regardless of the situation we are in. Case in point, while romancing what it was like to live in a somewhat oppressive situation, Fiddler on the Roof exclaims “May God bless and keep the Czar… far away from us!” From Mel Brooks to Lenny Bruce, and from the Bible to Ben Stiller, we have embraced the humorous side of life at every turn. We have books about Jewish jokes, and it seems like members of the tribe are on the forefront of comedic output in America. Like the Angel and Jacob, we decided to embrace our funny bones and write an April Fool’s edition of the newsletter. Contained within, you can find:
